The A.S.I. Legal Resource Center (LRC) is an on-campus referral agency dedicated to developing and organizing legal resources and information for the SFSU community. While the LRC does not provide legal advice, we do educate and empower students by providing them with current and accurate information regarding their rights when confronted with legal troubles ranging from landlord/tenant issues to credit problems to traffic infractions. At a student's initial visit, he or she will do an intake with an LRC worker who will then assess the situation and suggest possible courses of action. The LRC has a list of valuable agencies to refer clients to in almost every area of law. There are also two on-site attorneys who will help students for an affordable price.
Our staff consists of a director, an assistant director, an office assistant, and volunteers. In order to volunteer in the center, you must enroll in Counseling 630. This is a weekly seminar taught by different attorneys in various areas of law. In addition to the class, which takes place on Wednesdays from 5pm to 7pm, each student will volunteer in the center for at least one hour per week.
The LRC is open weekdays from 10am to 5pm. Hours may vary depending on volunteer schedules.
The LRC is located in the Cesar Chavez Student Center in office M-133A, right above the bookstore. The phone number of the office is (415) 338-1140 or (415) 338-1595. Our email address is email@example.com and you can visit out website at http://asi.sfsu.edu.
