My candidacy for the position of Health and Social Sciences Representative will benefit the SFSU campus because it will be inclusive when setting priorities and making decisions. I, Dmitra Lucas, plan to use my course of study in Child and Adolescent Development to improve the relationships between faculty and students, students and Associated Students, and Associated Students and the College of Health and Social Sciences. One of my goals to accomplishing this is to use my voice to tell the stories and experiences from classmates, friends, and peers within the college. Being that SFSU is a commuter school, I feel that I have a privilege of living close to the area. Recognizing this privilege, I will use it to put in the extra unlisted work of improving relations. Another goal of mine is to create more awareness of ASI resources, internships, and scholarships within the College of Health and Social Sciences. I want more awareness not just amongst the students within the college, but also the professors, faculty and staff. It is very important to empower the ones who will be here longer than 4 to 6 years. This will create long term benefits for the SFSU community. Professors that are well aware and knowledgeable of ASI can better assist students and retention rates. If elected to the position of Health and Social Sciences Representative I want to bring about change, collectively and strategically. Students, faculty, University Officials and Associated Students must be a unit to continue to thrive.
