Gator Pass Expansion

The Gator Pass is a student fee collected during the Fall and Spring semesters that allows SFSU students to access public transit at a discounted cost. The current Gator Pass Expansion initiative is seeking to expand the Gator Pass to include additional Bay Area public transit entities for the Fall and Spring semesters in addition to lowering the Gator Pass fee by at least $50.

Have you ever wondered why the Associated Students logo is on our SF State ID cards?

In 2015, the Associated Students Board of Directors passed the “Associated Students ‘Student Transit Pass Resolution’,” which called for a campus-wide student transit pass to be offered to SFSU students through a referendum by the following Spring of 2016. Through student advocacy & support, the AS BOD was the driving force for the SF State OneCard Gator Pass, which provides unlimited free Muni use & a 50% BART Discount for trips starting or ending at the Daly City stop. The “Gator Pass” was finally implemented in the Fall of 2017. In the Spring of 2022, students participated in a survey that demonstrated overwhelming support for expanding the Gator Pass to include other transit routes in the Bay Area. As a result, SamTrans was added to the Gator Pass at no extra cost!
